The Azienda Agricola Spadafora is located in the Monreale area, contrada Virzì, about 60km from Palermo. This 180-hectare property, of which 100 are vineyards, enjoys a warm sun and fresh wind. Francesco Spadafora, son of the founder, Don Pietro of the Princes of Spadafora, now passionately takes care of these vineyards.
He reviewed the local vines and introduced new varieties for the production of quality wines. The grapes, grown between 250 and 450 metres above sea level, are processed immediately after harvesting to preserve their quality. Great attention is also given to the cultivation of olive trees and prickly pears, the latter covering about 3 hectares and there are also two, small artificial lakes used for irrigation, where herons can sometimes be seen in the springtime.
